Sara and Sammy had the vision to have their destination mountain wedding weekend be an experience for everyone involved. With the help of Events by Kiersa, their vision was perfectly coordinated between downtown Asheville and Lake Lure. I am one lucky photographer to have been chosen to be their photographer!
The wedding party got ready at the Renaissance Hotel downtown before heading to Trinity United Methodist Church in west Asheville for their lovely ceremony. After they were married and lots of family/guest photos were captured, the three of us headed up to Sky Mountain for some awe-inspiring views of the Asheville area as a backdrop to their epic mountain wedding for portraits.
Saturday evening, I rejoined the party in Lake Lure for their beach ‘after party’ complete with campfires and s’mores. The guests had been enjoying kayaks, paddle boats and games throughout the afternoon before I returned, all reeling in the mountain beauty. As the sun set and darkness set in, sparkler fun with this amazingly creative and coordinated group as they wrote out the wedding date (the first attempt is the one you see!), ‘LOVE’ and perfectly executed hearts unlike any I have gotten to photograph before. Then the fireworks began! I had so much fun getting to capture it all!!
As with everything being a little different at this wedding, they saved the reception for Sunday morning and held a brunch reception at the Venue in downtown Asheville. Instead of cutting a cake, they opted for a decorated waffle creation that was just adorable. Their guests were treated to an awesome brunch, including a waffle bar and copious amounts of Benton’s bacon. Their guests were all very very happy.
The floral designs throughout were from Urban Farm Girl – perfectly lovely arrangements that were lovely in the church, on the beach and the next morning for the brunch reception. I loved being Sammy and Sara’s wedding photographer! It was a pleasure preserving these special moments from the big weekend. The couple totally succeeded on their mission of making a memorable wedding weekend for all their family and friends!
