Destination mountain wedding – Jana and Alex’s Vintage Inspired Lake Lure Wedding

CCP_8445

This vintage-inspired mountain lakeside wedding has got to be one of my favorite weddings yet!!  I absolutely adored everything about this couple and our time together!!  I was ecstatic that they were wanting to hike to waterfalls and and explore around the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville two days after their wedding, and really were game for anything as they traversed up and down trails to get to the perfect spots!  Could not resist revisiting this perfect day to share it with you all! Hope you love it as much as I do!!  🙂

Jana and Alex were married in Lake Lure, NC in August 2012. They had the most awe-inspiring wedding day, full of perfectly timeless vintage details.  Lake Lure was the backdrop for their idyllic wedding!!  We had the best time riding around (them in full wedding dress and me with all my gear) stopping at so many stunning locations all over the Western North Carolina mountains! We started the after-session back at the Inn then headed to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Brevard to go play in the gorgeous waterfalls. The bride is one of the most caring people I have ever met and her adoring Marine groom made their day an honor to be a part of.

Blue accents appeared throughout from the bride’s shoes to the ribbons on the floral.  The same blue that was used for the mountains on their cake made an appearance on the Smoky mountains as we wrapped up our epic after-session – it was all so perfect!  The yellow bridesmaid’s dresses were a fun contrast to the men’s plaid shirts, blue ties and grey vests. Love the pops of color used and how vintage and classic this couple is. Perfect looks and details complemented by the Inn’s vintage feel. They loved the DIY projects (most of the decorations and guest gift – cake in a jar) that gave them extra family time together before the big day.

Lisa McMillan of Exquisite Events coordinated the day and Occasions by Emily did the lovely floral decor, both  based in Asheville, NC.  Love working with those ladies – and the Lake Lure Inn staff – they make it all so easy for my couples everyone involved.  Always a pleasure getting to work with my husband and owner of WNC Video Productions, Chris, and loved that he was there shooting video that day as well.  I cannot say enough about how much I loved this wedding…so I better stop myself and share some of our favorite photos from my time with Jana and Alex!  Hope you enjoy!

Here is their wedding story in Jana’s words:
“We love the mountains and Asheville, NC holds such a special place in our hearts for so many reasons that we were determined to get married near there. We ended up looking into The 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa (about thirty minutes out of Asheville, NC) and it was amazing! My favorite time period happens to be the 1920’s and there were mountains on all sides! It was a dream come true! We were able to book the perfect weekend of August 11, 2012. We also managed to be lucky enough to work with an amazing team of people who helped the whole experience go smoothly. The photographer, videographer, baker, flowers and wedding planner were a dream come true! Our families were a huge support for us and helped so much! We made most of the decorations ourselves and spent many late nights/early mornings making them perfect! The night before the wedding we were working on the wedding favors (red velvet cake in a jar) and all the wedding bulletins. It was so enjoyable and such an amazing way to spend the night with my mom, dad and brother. It meant so much to me that they stayed up with me until 3am helping! Both of our families helped so much to put the wedding together. It was amazing and so encouraging to feel the love that surrounded it! I can never thank Alex’s family and my family enough!

We have been married for almost a year now and it has been amazing! Marriage is a lot of work sometimes but it is the most rewarding kind. He will be getting deployed in January 2014 and begins his training this June. It will definitely be a new experience and will not be easy but we are learning to grow and deal with things together. Our feelings for each other grew over two years when we weren’t even sure how the other felt so we feel very confident that one year apart when we are positive we love each other will only grow our appreciation for what we have with each other!”

Best wishes for such an awesome couple!  Cannot wait until we can play again one day!!
